We get several types of questions about things like connecting a domain name, how to change the color of a section's background or adding features to a website. So, we asked them if they had any advice for website creators, and this is what they said.

Make a sitemap of your website before creating it

Before you start using WebSelf, do you know what you need for your website? Start the creative process by analyzing different websites you like or ask a professional to help. If necessary, you can take a look at our page of examples! Then take some paper, a pencil and make a sitemap of your website indicating the pages you need and the content that should be found on each of them. Consider whether you need important texts or specific images. You can start writing in advance or search for photos on image banks.

In general, websites have a home page, an about page, a page where products or services are displayed, and then a contact page. If you already know what you need to do, making your website will happen a lot faster.

Have your graphics in hand

After designing your site plan, it's time to work on the elements of your brand guide. When you determine in advance what graphics you want to include on your website, it's easier to create.

So, what should be in your brand guide? First, your logo. Your logo is one of the most important elements of your website's header. This symbol can also give your company a lot of credibility. For your website, we recommend using a version of your logo in PNG format with a transparent background. Next, your brand guide should include your color palette. Of course, your website and logo should use the same color palette to maintain consistency in branding. Finally, consider including your fonts, values and various examples to create a website in your image. All you have to do is enter your colors and fonts into the Styles tab to the left of the editor and add your logo to the header.

Send a complete request if you need help

Here is a request from our customer service agents. If you need to contact us, take the time to fill out all the fields. For example, your name, email address linked to your account, billing number and link to your website. Then write a few lines explaining the problem. For example, does the problem happen after doing something particular?

The more information you provide us the first time you contact us, the easier it will be for us to solve your problem easily and quickly. Here are two examples.

My site doesn't work anymore.

I noticed that since renewing my subscription, my site no longer works. Here is the link to my site and the email address linked to my account. Can you look into this, please?

It is very likely that the second request will be resolved faster than the first, as our agents have all the information they need to investigate and find a solution.

A quick reminder: be polite

We understand that it can be frustrating when creating and managing your website. However, we would like to remind you that it is essential to be courteous and polite when communicating with our customer service agents. We have a team of professionals who want to help you. If you are disrespectful to our employees, we retain the right to end the call or assistance. Everyone wins when respect is shown.

Also, do not send multiple messages for the same problem as this will overload the platform and delay the response. If you have to add information, simply reply to the first message. It can take up to 2 business days to get a response.
